Three Publication Party
Last night was really interesting. I think I will blog about it here at work as i sit updateing computers. The story... I got there right on time and started working. I felt really awkward. There were all these design types, in black with glasses interested in me as a sort of artistic oddity, or spectical. I guess it was a spectiical cause it was for peoples entertainment. Don't get me wrong I had a lot of fun. The other guys got there and we started to work, they knew each other so I was the odd one out, but we started to gel or whatever. Right when we reached a really great flow this random lady comes up and starts to paint. Her style is completely different from our street influenced outsider type painting shit. It totally put the brakes on the momentium we built. The other dudes bounched and I held down the fort. I didn't want a complete take over. It was a really interesting experience because it's not easy. It's hard work to colab with people and have it work out. It seems that outsiders look at the work as easy and feel "they can do it/put in their mark" But they fuck it up. Later in the night I had to be a bitch to these two people cause we've had been working on it for 3 hours and then this guy wanted to join in. It wasn't a free for all. I busted my ass yesterday to get my shit together to make it work. I stood in front of a large crowd (compelete with my social awkwardness) and painted non-stop for 3 hours. I wouldn't want to impose on someone like that. Oh well...whatever. It was still fun. and now I have a awesome new painting on my wall. and a book with my drawing in it. and the good feeling of friends who supported me and a new found inspiration for painting! yay! picks on my Flickr
